UPDATE: As part of the Downtown Signalization Project, the intersection of E. Wood Street and S. Brewer Street is closed today for traffic signal replacement and will experience intermittent closures over the next several days.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible and plan for potential delays. Large trucks are being rerouted around the construction area, and regular traffic will follow temporary detours while work is underway.
Recommended Traffic Detours
- Eastbound traffic on Wood Street: Turn right onto Poplar Street, left onto E. Blythe Street, then left onto Dunlap Street to return to E. Wood Street.
- Westbound traffic on Wood Street: Turn left onto Dunlap Street, then right onto E. Blythe Street.

Drivers should use caution, watch for temporary traffic changes, and follow posted signs when traveling near the construction area.
When Will the New Signal Be Operational?
The contractor is working to install the replacement traffic signal as soon as possible. The new signal is expected to be installed soon, with timing for full operation dependent on installation, testing, and programming. Motorists may encounter a flashing signal temporarily while the system is being configured.
We appreciate your patience as this work progresses. These improvements are part of the City’s Downtown Signalization Project, which will modernize traffic signals and improve safety and accessibility at key downtown intersections.
Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and continue to use caution around construction crews.
