A Tennessee icon gets a little Parisian tribute.
Dolly Parton was more than a Tennessee icon. She was a beloved figure whose music, generosity and unmistakable personality reached people far beyond the borders of the Volunteer State. Following her passing, one Paris, Tennessee, citizen came up with a simple idea to honor her: light the Eiffel Tower pink.
The City thought it was the perfect tribute.
Now, the 60-foot Eiffel Tower at Eiffel Tower Park is shining bright pink in Dolly’s honor through Monday night, August 31.
What started as a local idea has quickly taken on a life of its own, with photos of the glowing tower being shared well beyond our community. And perhaps fittingly, the tribute has brought attention to the unique connection between Paris, Tennessee, and Paris, France.
A Little Bit of Paris in Tennessee
Standing 60 feet tall inside Eiffel Tower Park, Paris, Tennessee’s Eiffel Tower is a 1:20 scale replica of the original Eiffel Tower in Paris, France.
Located at 1020 Maurice Fields Drive, the tower has become one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks and a favorite photo stop for residents and visitors alike.
So while our Eiffel Tower may be a little smaller than the one across the Atlantic, it has become an important part of what makes Paris, Tennessee, uniquely Paris.
A Tribute Worth Seeing
The pink lights will only be here for a short time, but the Eiffel Tower is a year-round landmark and Eiffel Tower Park offers plenty of reasons to visit.
