Construction on the Tyson Avenue, Mineral Wells Avenue, and Veterans Drive intersection improvement project is approximately 90% complete.
The new sidewalks are now complete, and the remaining work is focused on the four interior traffic islands and installation of the new pedestrian signals and crosswalks.
Upcoming Work
Demolition of the existing traffic islands is scheduled to begin Tuesday, September 8. Minor traffic control measures will be in place during this portion of the work.
Following the island demolition, crews will begin boring for the new pedestrian signal infrastructure. This phase will require multiple lane closures and significant changes to traffic patterns.
Drivers are strongly encouraged to avoid the intersection if possible while this work is underway. Those who must travel through the area should expect delays, lane closures, and changing traffic patterns.
Once this is complete, the remaining construction is expected to move quickly. The project is anticipated to be completed within approximately three weeks, weather permitting.
