The project area is located around the Trout Pond at Eiffel Tower Park Extended. During construction, access to the pond area will be restricted to allow crews to safely complete the improvements.

Project Overview

The Trout Pond area has long been a favorite destination for fishing, walking, and enjoying nature. Currently, the area features a dirt walking trail and several small bridges. Through this grant-funded project, the City of Paris will transform the area into a more accessible and immersive outdoor destination that can be enjoyed by residents and visitors of all ages and abilities.

  • A new ADA accessible trail surrounding the pond.
  • Paved trail sections with elevated boardwalks through wetland areas.
  • A new driveway and parking area providing improved access to the site.
  • A fishing and observation pier extending into the pond.
  • Expansion of the pond to improve water retention capacity.
  • Creation of a shallow wetland habitat.
  • Native landscaping designed to attract wildlife and increase biodiversity throughout the area.

The completed project will provide greater accessibility while creating new opportunities for recreation, education, fishing, wildlife observation, and outdoor enjoyment.

Preconstruction Meeting Held

Representatives from the City of Paris, project engineers, grant administrators, and the contractor met on June 10 for a preconstruction meeting to review project logistics, schedules, safety requirements, and environmental considerations.

Construction is scheduled to begin on June 17, with work continuing through the end of the year. Project partners discussed site access, construction sequencing, erosion control measures, and strategies for minimizing impacts to surrounding park amenities during construction.

Temporary Closures During Construction

For the safety of park visitors and construction crews, several areas will be closed throughout the duration of the project:

  • The Trout Pond area will be closed to the public.
  • The driveway and parking area serving the pond will be closed.
  • Three disc golf holes located within the construction zone will be temporarily unavailable.

Visitors are encouraged to utilize the many other amenities available throughout Eiffel Tower Park while construction is underway.

Investing in Accessibility and Outdoor Recreation

This project represents another investment in making Paris parks more accessible, welcoming, and environmentally sustainable. When complete, the improved Trout Pond area will provide a unique outdoor destination where residents can fish, walk, observe wildlife, and experience nature in a setting designed to be accessible to everyone.

We appreciate the public’s patience during construction and look forward to sharing progress updates as work moves forward.
