The Paris Fire Department spent Tuesday and Wednesday of this week at Williams Lake completing their annual pump testing, an important process that ensures every fire truck in the fleet is operating at peak performance.

Pump testing is a key part of maintaining fire readiness. Each truck’s pump is tested to confirm it can deliver the proper water pressure and flow rate needed to fight fires safely and effectively. During testing, firefighters hook the trucks up to a water source (in this case, Williams Lake) and run the pumps through a series of checks to measure performance under different conditions. Tests like this ensure that their vehicles and equipment are dependable and ready to respond when seconds matter.

As they wrapped up this year’s testing, the team took a moment to look back at how much has changed over time. This photo we found from the late 1970s or early 1980s shows Paris firefighters performing the same tests at the same spot.

It’s a great reminder that while the trucks and technology have changed, the department’s dedication to readiness, training, and community safety remains as strong as ever.
