Government

City of Paris Government Structure:

The City of Paris operates under a Council-Manager form of government. This structure ensures that elected officials provide leadership and direction while a professional city manager oversees daily operations.

  • Setting policies and ordinances
  • Approving the city budget
  • Overseeing major city projects and initiatives
  • Appointing the City Manager

Commission members are elected by residents to serve four-year terms, with elections held biennially to ensure continuity in leadership.

Mayor & Vice Mayor

The Mayor and Vice Mayor are selected from among the Commission members. Their primary responsibilities include:

  • Representing the city in official capacities
  • Presiding over Commission meetings
  • Signing official city documents

City Manager

The City Manager is appointed by the Commission and acts as the chief executive officer of the city. The City Manager’s role is to:

  • Implement policies set by the Commission
  • Oversee daily city operations and department heads
  • Develop and manage the city budget
  • Ensure efficient delivery of public services
