Story

PARIS, Tennessee is located approximately 60 miles northeast of Jackson and 60 miles west of  Clarksville. It is located in Henry County. This trade area consists of four Tennessee counties and Calloway County, Kentucky which borders Henry County, Tennessee to the north. The 2021 population of the 5-county area is 148,977 with a median income of $39,436.

The economic base of the area is diversified with a mix of manufacturing, retail, agriculture, tourism, transportation, and medical. Total employed population 16yrs+: 57,479 (30.5% Blue collar, 18.4% Service sector, 51.1% White collar). Population 25yrs+ with college degree: 26,983 (26.5%). Population 25yrs+ with high school diploma 40,823 (40.1%).

Paris is home of the World's Biggest Fish Fry where over 12,500 pounds of catfish are served annually the last week in April. Paris and Henry County enjoys a large tourist base with Paris Landing State Park and Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Center on Kentucky Lake drawing 1.25 million visitors each year. Henry County continues to rank in the top 10% of Tennessee counties for annual wage in leisure and hospitality industry.

Other events that continue to grow and draw visitors are the Tennessee River Jam, the Paris Landing Sprint and Olympic Triathlon, the Wings of Winter Birding Festival, PBR in Paris Rodeo, numerous fishing tournaments and the annual Water Fun Run.

Because of the proximity to the Tennessee River and Kentucky Lake, hunting, boating and fishing create a large community of seasonal residents to the area in addition to the many visitors.

Henry County Medical Center, the largest employer, serves the surrounding region. The hospital has 142 beds, over 70 physicians with more than 35 specialties represented. Additionally, the city offers assisted and independent living facilities to serve the ever-growing retirement community.

Bethel University, Paris Campus, shares a facility with HCMC and allows for a broader array of health sciences offerings. Currently, Bethel University offers a Bachelor of Science in nursing, a Master's of Science in physician assistant studies and a number of undergraduate programs that prepare students for placement in advanced health sciences study.

The community has a strong automotive manufacturing sector including Dana, Nobel, PML and Setco, to name a few. These industries represent tier 2 OE automotive suppliers which make the industrial community very unique in the region. OE suppliers are perceived as paying better wages than other sectors and can survive economic downturns better. The City and County are seeing success with the recently acquired 400 acres of industrial property, this being a result of significant interest and growth in this sector due to the West Tennessee Blue Oval City project.

A 60 foot Eiffel Tower designed to scale that resides in Eiffel Tower Park draws visitors from all over the country and the world for folks seeking an opportunity to photograph themselves with the structure as a substitute for the original!! With the new stage area, the public enjoys concerts and events at the foot of the Eiffel Tower which is adjacent to a 12,000 square foot splash pad, the largest non-amusement splash pad in the state of Tennessee.

Statistics show a typical Henry County resident shares a fondness for outdoor sports, fishing, hunting, camping and motor sports. Many residents are do-it-yourselfers who are into woodworking and needlework. They like to shop at the bit box home improvement chains and watch how-to shows on TV. Country music and western media dominate the market.
