The Eiffel Tower is now Surrounded by Colorful Lights!

On Tuesday evening December 20th 2016 the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Paris held a  ceremony to showcase the new lighting project of Paris’ signature landmark, the Eiffel Tower, located in Eiffel Tower Park off Volunteer Drive.

The lighting project has been an ongoing project of the Paris – Henry County Chamber of Commerce for the past several months. The lights are being paid for through a collaborative effort from the City of Paris, Board of Public Utilities, Henry County Tourism Authority, Chamber of Commerce and multiple individual and corporate donors.

The lights that are currently being installed are LED and can produce an unlimited number of colors and color options that can be changed to celebrate any holidays, special occasions or specific needs. The lights will be controlled remotely and have the ability to change and move to music if desired.

The official lighting ceremony was a short presentation introducing the private donors, a demonstration of the many light colors that can be created and a short performance by the Henry County High School Madrigals to demonstrate the musical dancing effect of the new lights.

‘The Eiffel Tower brings in countless number of visitors to our community each year, lighting it for nighttime viewing will only increase the opportunities for people to visit our community.

“Besides Kentucky Lake it is our number one tourist attraction” says Mayor Carlton Gerrell.
