The Planning and Zoning Department
The Building Inspection Department for the City of Paris is responsible for issuing building permits for new structures, additions, remodels or repairs, carport/garages, storage buildings, mobile homes, signs, swimming pools, change of use or occupancy, temporary structures, as well as plumbing, mechanical and gas permits. The Building Inspector conducts inspections on all residential and commercial construction projects inside the city limits. The Building Inspector is ultimately responsible for all building/development/codes inspections.

The Planning and Zoning Department performs a variety of services intended to protect, maintain, and develop an attractive, safe, and healthy environment. Primary functions address property development and land use activities occurring in the City.
The Planning and Zoning Department provides direction and leadership in implementing the goals, objectives, and policies of the City as adopted by the Paris City Commission and Paris Municipal Regional Planning Commission.
The Department is also responsible for the orderly development of the City and the administration of various land use regulations, including the zoning ordinance, historical zoning ordinance, sign ordinance, and the subdivision regulations.
The Planning and Zoning Department also provides technical assistance and staff support to the Planning Commission and Paris Board of Zoning Appeals.

The Codes Enforcement Officer is responsible for all Property Maintenance Codes violations in the City of Pairs. The Codes Enforcement Officer primarily inspects and enforces regulations found in the Paris Municipal Code with regard to Property Maintenance Codes dealing with, but not limited to, grass, junk and abandoned/junk vehicles.
